Abracadabra : The Asylum Years (2CD)
£10.99
Description:
The definitive 2CD collection of cult artist Judee Sill’s two Asylum albums ‘Judee Sill’ and ‘Heartfood’ complete with outtakes and several fantastic live performances plus some previously unreleased recordings.
Judee Sill’s two beguiling albums have been shamefully unavailable for thirty years but, at long last, Rhino UK, is releasing them officially on CD for the first time in the UK. ‘Judee Sill: The Complete Asylum Recordings’ is also bolstered by a generous helping of outtakes, demos and live performances, these previously only available on a limited edition Rhino Handmade edition in the US.
‘Judee Sill’ features 10 additional tracks. These include ‘The Pearl’ and ‘The Phoenix’ which were left off the album to make way for the late addition recording of a new song, ‘Jesus Was A Cross Maker’, a demo version of this, one of her best known songs, is also included. The remaining seven tracks were recorded live at Boston Music Hall on 3rd October 1971. They were recorded by Bill Halverson at the same time as recording the headline act of David Crosby and Graham Nash. Nash, of course, had produced ‘Jesus Was A Cross Maker’, released as a single.
‘Heart Food’ adds the previously unreleased out-take, ‘The Desperado’ along with eight solo demos for the album itself.
