Five years since the multi-million selling The Corrs band took a break, the violinist and songwriter Sharon Corr returns with a collection that will delight Corrs fans and showcase a different side to Sharon as she takes centre stage as a lead singer.
The result is a striking collection which Sharon describes as ‘a very personal singer-songwriter album with shed loads of violin on it’.
Sharon road-tested many of the new songs in 2009 with performances at the Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals and out of that live experience came the album’s two covers, the Korgis’ 1980 hit ‘Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime’ and Bronski Beat’s ‘Smalltown Boy’. One of the album’s self-penned songs ‘It’s Not A Dream’ was A-listed at Radio 2 in 2009.
Several songs deal with hopes and dreams and how they can be realised. ‘What you dream is what you can be’, Sharon says. ‘And when you’ve realised your dream, you have to learn never to take it for granted. That’s what “It’s Not A Dream” is all about’.
